Patricia Matte is a Chilean billionaire and sociologist born in 1942 in Santiago, Chile. She is the eldest of three siblings who inherited the largest pulp and paper producer in Chile, Empresas CMPC, from their father. In addition to her business interests, Matte is also involved in public policy and economics, serving as president of the Sociedad de Instruccion Primaria, a Chilean non-profit focused on education, until 2015. She currently sits on the board of Instituto Libertad y Desarrollo, a private think tank that analyzes social issues and public policy and economics.
